The standards: how should data be sanitized?

NIST and IEEE define sanitization guidance and requirements, providing a basis for evaluating data removal methods.

Sanitization guidance

NIST SP 800-88

Media sanitization guidance published by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology. It helps organizations establish sanitization, disposal and management processes appropriate to the sensitivity of their data.

Sanitization standard

IEEE 2883

A standard for sanitizing logical and physical storage. It defines sanitization methods and provides requirements and guidance specific to different storage technologies.

The evidence: how is Blancco independently evaluated?

The same ADISA certificate records verification results for Drive Eraser 7.18.0 against NIST SP 800-88 R1/R2 and IEEE 2883:2022.
Common Criteria indicates that the product has passed evaluation against the international Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation.
